Jeremy Read - Guitar and Vocals Paul Sudthisa - Guitar Emily Baker - Drums (2004-present) Aaron McCoy - Bass (2005-present) Judson Jones - Bass (2001-2003) Andres Lopez - Drums (2001-2003) Guitarists Paul and Jeremy have been musical comrades for six years now, having been in a handful of bands together in that time, but Via first started playing shows in early 2001. The quartet has prided themselves on a refined work ethic, always bringing their A game to the stage, and have dropped a stellar live set in many venues and artspaces on the US West Coast. Their debut album, Deception Pass, was released on Woodson Lateral in the fall of 2003. Managing to not quite fit into any specific genre, Via simultaneously draw on such disparate flavors of rock and indie music that they would fit on almost any bill imaginable. They are a group of four distinct characters who have managed to find a common ground that is both unique and somewhat experimental at times, while maintaining a high level of accessibility. Their influences might be hard to place at first, not that they are that obscure, only that they blend elements that others rarely do- taking the leads of the early Manchester scene (Joy Division et al) and brit pop, and fusing them with the heavy and harmonic elements of bands like Drive Like Jehu and Slint. After a tumultuous bout of lineup changes over the last couple of years, the revivified quartet is currently in preperations for a new album, due out in 2006. |
